Facebook, probably the world’s largest social networking website, will soon be available in an ultra-simple version.
During a MWC 2010 keynote, it has been revealed that the new version is called Facebook Zero and it’s, well, lighter than Facebook Lite, being designed for all types of cell phones, including basic ones.
Facebook Zero doesn’t include “data intensive applications” (photos and such), and it looks like it’s a text-only version of Facebook for mobile.
Apparently, Facebook Zero will be launched via lots of mobile carriers around the world – and it will be free. The idea here is to lure people into using Facebook on their phones and make them want to pay in case they need access to more features.

You can check out Facebook Zero here – but for the moment there doesn’t seem to be any carriers to support it. The service should be fully launched in the coming weeks.
