Apple has opened a “Try Before You Buy” section in the App Store, this way enabling iOS users to test applications before deciding whether they want to buy them or not.
That’s not as great as it sounds, though. The new section currently has a limited number of apps that you can try – and they were already available before anyway, because they’re nothing more than just ad-supported or lite versions of some paid apps.
So what’s the big deal, then? Well, there isn’t one, although Apple may, in the future, want to include most of its apps in the “Try Before You Buy” category. That would really be great news for iOS users, and it would also likely lead to the existence of fewer pirated/cracked apps.
Apple could also do something similar to what Google has done with Android Market, namely offering customers the ability to return any purchased app within 24 hours for a full refund.
Until this happens (if ever) go check out the new “Try Before You Buy” section in the App Store – it’s included in the “Free on the App Store” category.
