Pamela, Paris, Purple

It’s a little too easy to make a wisecrack about Paris being the City of Love, but suffice it to say that the town is treating jewelry designer Pamela Love pretty well these days. Love touched down in Paris last week to set up her installation at Colette, an adaptation of the one she showed at MAC and Milk Studios last season. That’s open now. Tonight, Love is spinning at Paris’ Ofr. Galerie, where Lurve magazine (no relation) is celebrating the launch of its third issue, which features photographs taken by Love and Jordan Sullivan on a recent trip to New Mexico. And yesterday, Purple Diary put Love’s limited-edition snake necklace and faceted silver ring on sale in its new, online Purple Boutique. “We’re doing these in an edition of 50, and then depending on demand, we might collaborate on more pieces,” Love says, going on to explain that the necklace is a purple-tinted version of an archival piece from her range, and that the ring is based on a vintage rhinestone bauble she wears every day. “It’s like a tattoo,” she notes. “It never comes off.” (Purple editor Olivier Zahm was kind enough to snap us a few pics of her wearing it, above.) Love, meanwhile, isn’t the only busy person in Paris: Zahm, who commissioned Love’s pieces, expects to add several more items to the Purple Boutique, which launched last month with the introduction of Olympia Le-Tan’s Johnny Purple bag. Next up: a plastron necklace, called “My favorite Purple cover,” by design duo Yazbukey, pictured below. (It’s André on the cover of Purple issue no. 8, and—take it for what you will—it’s waterproof.) Like the Love and Le-Tan items, the necklace will be made to order, and in Zahm’s words, was created in the “by friends, for friends” spirit of the Purple Boutique. In other words, love—in addition to Love—is all around.
